Despite about 11 months having passed since the Gaza ceasefire agreement came into effect, Palestinians, including children, are still being killed daily, while the Israeli army’s control is expanding and the crises of aid and shelter are worsening, a reality described by UN investigator Chris Sidoti as merely a ‘reduction in the intensity of fire.’

In an interview with Anadolu, Chris Sidoti, a member of the UN’s independent international fact-finding mission on the occupied Palestinian territories, said that Israel’s continued killing of Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip, despite the ceasefire announced in October 2025, makes calling the situation a ‘ceasefire’ inaccurate.

Mediators continue efforts to fully implement the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, effective since October 10, 2025, while Israeli violations of the agreement have resulted in the killing of 1,334 Palestinians and the injury of 4,429 others as of Wednesday, according to the latest data from the Health Ministry in the sector.

With American support, Israel has continued its genocide campaign in Gaza since October 8, 2023, which has resulted in the killing of over 73,000 Palestinians and injuring more than 174,000, most of them children and women, in addition to widespread destruction percent of the infrastructure of the sector
